Jo Sharpe exhibits at Farrow and Ball Wimbledon
A My love of flat colour has led me to exhibit at
Farrow and Ball, Wimbledon Village.
As you may know I have a fascination with colours. But you may not know how deep it runs. I particularly love flat colour. Not just when painting, but also deciding on my interiors colour.
Over the years I have redecorated my house several times even enlisting the support of two interior design friends who have tired of my obsession and dithering.
I waste lots of time on sample pots and hours simply looking and analysing samples of flat colour. So much so, I have decided to put these hours of time invested into colour into a project.
I wrote to Farrow and Ball in Wimbledon and asked if I could have some of my paintings in their window the Wimbledon Art Trail weekend on 13th and 14th September. It turns out they really like my still life and said yes. This has made me really happy as I feel it’s a great collaboration.
A wonderful project, inspired by the colours of one of my favourite paint companies.
It’s been a great summer for me, doing my favourite thing – painting papers with beautiful colours! Over the hot summer using past sample pots that I have stored in my garage and some new colours gifted to me Steph the showroom Manager at Farrow ad Ball, I have created lots! I am using these samples as part of my creative practise and am turning these into collages. The best ones, will support future oil paintings.
I am thankful to Katie Preston and Katherine Rowe at Commonworks for the opportunity of exhibiting at Wimbledon Art Trail and of course Farrow and Ball. I’m hoping I can get into more Farrow and Ball windows and perhaps run some workshops for them. The Wimbledon Art trail takes place on 12th and 13th September, all over Wimbledon.
