Jo’s  inspiration for multicoloured abstract velvet scarf

I am an artist and have often looked at my paint palettes thinking they would make cool paintings as they are so full of colour and texture and absent of order. Thus the design for my contemporary multicolored abstract velvet scarf came from my art palette in my studio. My Studio is a beautiful georgian studio set amongst other artist studios in Oaks Park, Carshalton.

Textile Designer

Although I mostly work as an artist and teacher I studied printed textile design at Bretton Hall College 1991-1994. Bretton Hall was an arts college set in the  grounds of the beautiful Yorkshire Sculpture Park and an affiliate of Leeds University, however it is now a luxury hotel. I sold my fashion fabrics designs to New York, London and Tokyo before working for the French textile house Nobilis in Chelsea, London.

As an artist/designer inspired by Nature I care for the environment. These bespoke art scarfs are made to order which means no unwanted wastage. They are printed in London and then posted back to be turned into scarfs by me..  Choose the sustainable option where they are printed onto organic cotton and have an up-cycled coordinated backing fabric. These include carefully sourced unwanted velvet curtains, denim jeans, a jumper or fabric remnants.
