Shimmering light on seashore painting – Original painting 60x90cm

This original painting would  look great behind a sofa or above a mantle piece or in a bedroom.  It has light neutral colours and would enhance and add elegance to any room it is put in. It is shown framed.  You would be welcome to view the painting at my studio by appointment and you can also try before you buy.

Inspired to paint Shimmering light on seashore painting

I had a most enjoyable holiday in September 2022 in Cornwall. I really love the county and it has inspired many a painting. This particular painting was inspired by the shoreline in Newlyn.  I especially loved the shimmering light on seashore contrasting with the dark rocks.  I have several paintings of Newlyn I would like to paint. It is just a picturesque place with all the colourful fishing boats.

Mixed Media Technique

This painting is produced by mixing medias such as oil pastels, wax  and acrylic paints. It works well especially when trying to imitate water. I enjoy creating different surface pattern textures. It is one of my idiosyncrasies. I learnt to do this on my degree course in printed Textile Design at Leeds University. If you are local and interested in learning about this technique I run a mixed media art workshop in September from my studio in Oaks Park called Art in the Park.

Cornish Art

Cornwall is where I hope to retire some day. I wouldn’t retire though – I expect I would paint everyday! Its not just the coast I love about Cornwall, it is also the hedgerows. The hedgerows have inspired several of my favourite prints. Here is the link to my most popular print, which is also available as a bespoke cushion.
